Mark Fishburn is President of MarketWord. MarketWord creates positioning, messaging and market development programs for telecommunications and computer companies. He has been Chairman of the board of several industry associations including the 10 Gigabit Ethernet Alliance and from 2003-2006 he has been chair of the Metro Ethernet Forum. For his work in the Metro Ethernet Forum, in December 2005 he received the annual award for best marketing for a private company from Lightreading Magazine. He has achieved more than 20 industry product marketing wards.

Before founding MarketWord, Mark was vice president for two California based companies from start up to IPO: Retix and Spirent. Mr. Fishburn has over 36 years experience in systems engineering, marketing, sales, product marketing and management in the computer and data communications industries.

In the early eighties, Mark was with Xerox’ Palo Alto based network division whose products included the famous Star Workstation (the inspiration for Windows and the MAC) and early Ethernet systems, installing his first Ethernet system in 1981.

Mark is a frequent speaker and chairperson at conferences around the world, most recently presenting on Carrier Ethernet and IPTV.
