Dr. Lakshmi Arunachalam is a thought leader, inventor and pioneer in Internet multimedia web services. She is Founder, Chairman and CEO of WebXchange, Inc, an online web services' platform for real-time exchange of multimedia information on the net, connecting users and devices with multimedia content owners and applications on the net. She holds key Internet patents on Internet Channel Control and in recent times, has been focusing on software patent analysis and portfolio analysis and management for clients. Dr. Lakshmi is also Chairman and Founder of Pi-Net International, Inc, a Professional Services, IT, Software, Networking and IP Analytics Consulting company, that continues to service Fortune 500 clients in software, networking, wireless, hardware, medical devices, nanotechnology, MEMS, encryption, security, audio/video consumer electronics and HDMI devices, Internet-related technologies and patents. Dr. Lakshmi is also Chairman and Founder of e-pointe, Inc, a wireless company for electronic health records' services on the net. Prior to her current positions, Dr. Lakshmi directed Network Architecture at Sun Microsystems, at IBM, AT&T Bell Labs, Carnegie Mellon Andrew File System and NSFNET projects from IBM, has led standards' bodies such as IEEE802, IEEE POSIX X.500, X/Open. She also worked at NASA Johnson Space Center with MITRE Corporation. In addition to her patent and intellectual property work and entrepreneurial ventures, Dr. Lakshmi has taught at the University of Toronto and University of Madras. Her courses study the effects of the Internet and media technology on society. She has also taught courses in Physics and Computer Networks, as well as refereed for computer journals. Dr. Lakshmi attended Stanford University for pre-med studies, and was a post-doctoral fellow at Rice University, Houston, Texas. Dr. Lakshmi received her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Manchester, England, and M.S. in Physics from British Columbia, Canada, Computer Science from University of Houston, and a B.S. and M.S. in Physics from University of Madras, India. She has published several books and papers in computer networking and holds several patents to her credit. |
